The only sound breaking the silence of the playground was the creak of the swings. Fascinating thing, swings, another fun human thing that trolls simply had no time for. Fun didn't really seem to be in their species' vocabulary. If it was, it was probably closer to "murder" than "entertainment", not that those two words weren't almost the same anyway. Trolls sure were weird.
Terezi sighed, shifting her weight to fly higher. She could understand how humans would love this, be thrilled by it; it wasn't quite like soaring on mother's back, but by the gods it was something she could do all on her own, under her own power. There hadn't been much she could do on her own since falling out of her tree, so this made it doubly wonderful. Yes, on her own, she was free, she was independent.
She was also kind of lonely.
Not that she would ever admit that to mother. That would just make the dragon cling more than she already did. Thinking of it, Terezi stopped swinging, sighing a bit; it was difficult enough to sneak away as it was. She lifted her face, turning it towards the direction of the moon, giving it a soft sniff only to find it not there, clouds in its place. The first few drops of rain fell atop her head and she swore. Rain always washed everything out, made it harder to see the way she did. Now she'd be stuck here, cold and wet, until it stopped. At least she was armed.
She hated being alone.

HIT THEM RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - It had been Karkat who had been the first to notice that his teal blooded friend was nowhere to be found. At first he brushed it off and busied himself with other things he had to do. However the ever nagging feeling in the back of this thinkpan wouldn't leave him alone. It never did really but it was all the worse when a friend (someone he cared about--though he hated to admit it) was the cause of it. It tugged on all the loose strings he had thrown to the back, and used them to make him pay attention. These worrying thoughts were like a teething grub, restless and grumpy and if you weren't going to pay attention to it, it'd scream until you did. Just to soothe your ringing ears if nothing else.
Finally Karkat had no choice but to give in. First he did a quick sweep of the camp, and after asking around a bit, and checking her usual haunts he came up with nothing. Geeze, this girl was much more trouble than she was worth some days. Making his way back to The Sufferer's tent he placed his sickle, and an umbrella for the impending rain in his inventory and left a note saying he was off practicing and would be back in a few hours. After that he slipped out of the encampment, hopefully unnoticed. It had taken some time initially, but eventually he found himself nearing the playground. He really wasn't sure where else she could be. She couldn't have been dumb enough to tried to enter the city without at least one other person with her. It was suicide even for a troll. Today really wasn't a good day.
It was then that a droplet of rain hit his nose. Karkat growled and took a moment to fuss with his sylladex. Worthless piece of shit, it was impossible to access quickly. He swore under his breath as he continued to work at it. In the end he finally cracked it, though, it had taken much longer than the moment he had hoped to have spent of it. He took the umbrella out, even though it was a moot by as by now he was soaked, and held the clear plastic over his head. Man, Terezi better be fucking grateful when he found her. Worshiping him on her knees for wasting all of his valuable time. He trotted forward on his journey.
Squinting through the blurred vision that the rain provided he finally, at long last spotted what appeared to be a troll. Of course, it was no other troll than terezi herself and it was a done right miracle (Karkat almost hated himself for use of that word. It might has been been taboo in his vocabulary) he had found her. What was the human saying a needle in a god forsaken haystack? Karkat stalked forward, all of his rage showing in how he tensed his shoulders.
"Terezi, you better have a fucking good explanation for why I had to drag myself out in this sorry excuse for a place of folly just to find your sorry ass!"

He was somewhat clearer than the rest of the surroundings, probably because of his rain repelling shield, but still pretty fuzzy. She couldn't smell the red under his skin from here, which made her just a little bit sad, but having at least someone here made things better.
Usually, she would turn to face him; sighted people tended to like it better when they got looked at. Most of the time it helped her smell better, too, but since the stupid rain was all over everywhere, the world just smelled wet. She was pretty sure that unless she got up close and personal she wouldn't perceive him very clearly at all. There was always her tongue for that, of course, but he had a tendency to flip his shit more than usual when she licked him. The thought of it made her smile; it never failed to amuse her when that happened. But now wasn't the time.
"You d1dn't h4v3 to do 4nyth1ng, cr4bby p4tty," she replied, swinging idly. Why had he come here, anyways? It wasn't as if she was really in any trouble. Zombies probably liked the rain as much as she did, which was not very much. Of course, she could be wrong about that. Maybe zombies loved the rain. It gave them the perfect opportunity to catch crunchy little blind girls on swings.
Finally, she did look at him, offering him a bit of a smile. "But s1nc3 you'r3 h3r3, th3 r41n 1s m4k1ng 3v3ryth1ng sm3ll off. 1nclud1ng you. 1 w4s just gonn4 s1t 4round h3r3 t1ll 1t stops. W4nn4 k33p m3 comp4ny~?"
She wondered if he would. He was nice to talk to, around her age, different like she was. At the same time she would understand if he didn't want to stay. It was raining, and he'd probably want to get somewhere dry before deciding if he wanted to talk to her. She never quite knew with most people, whether or not they really wanted her around or if they were just putting up with her. Karkat, at least, was no different from anyone else in that regard.
